ISLAMABAD, May 28 (APP): Youm e Takbeer was celebrated
across the country on Saturday with a pledge to defend
country against any aggression.
Pakistan is the first Muslim country to achieve the status of
a nuclear power after conducting nuclear tests at Chagai in
Balochistan on May 28.
In the morning, special prayers were offered for progress
and prosperity of the country, supremacy of the constitution, and eradication of militancy.
Different organisations arranged special programmes and
functions and brought out rallies to highlight importance of the Day.
Rich tribute was also paid to team of nuclear scientists
by intellectuals, poets, journalists, defense analysts and notable personalities.
Pakistan Television, Radio Pakistan and others television
channels broadcast special programmes in connection with the day besides special supplements were published by newspapers.
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML N) leadership of Rawalpindi and Islamabad Chapters also arranged functions on eve of Youm i Takbeer, where a larger number of PML N local leaders and workers were present.
At a ceremony in Islamabad PML N leader Syed Zafar Ali Shah said the day is a very important in country’s history and that is why it is marked every year in a befitting manner.
He paid rich tribute to Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif who took stringent measures to strengthen the country’s defence.
In Lahore and other cities of Punjab different functions were
arranged in connection with the day where speakers said that Pakistan’s nuclear explosions not only saved the
region from an imbalance of power but also made the country the first Islamic nuclear state.
In Karachi, the day was marked at a ceremony held under the auspices of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML N), where Sindh vice president of PML N, Akbar Gujjar, said that by conducting nuclear tests on May 28, 1998, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif made the country’s defence invincible.
Like elsewhere in the country, people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa celebrated Youm e Takbeer with national zeal and fervour.
In Quetta, provincial capital of Balochistan Youm e Takbeer
was observed and in different functions tributes were paid to Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for making the country’ defense strong.
Various functions were also arranged in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit Baltistan in connection with the day.

Rashid, Minister for Kashmir Affairs Barjees Tahir and Special
Assistant to Prime Minister, Dr Asif Kirmani attended a public
gathering in Muzaffarabad and appreciated the Prime Minister for his boldness in conducting the nuclear tests.
