ADOP clarifies position on Mohammad Inam doping case
ISLAMABAD, Sep 07 (APP):The Anti-Doping Organization of Pakistan (ADOP) on Monday clarified its position regarding reports concerning wrestler Mohammad Inam and an adverse analytical finding reported during the Asian Beach Games held in China in April 2026.
ADOP, in a press release, stated that it is an independent anti-doping organization and does not operate under the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), contrary to the impression created in some recent reports.
The organization said that Mohammad Inam had not applied to ADOP for a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) before participating in the Asian Beach Games.
According to ADOP, records in the Anti-Doping Administration and Management System (ADAMS) show that a retroactive TUE was subsequently granted by United World Wrestling (UWW) on July 24, 2026, independently of ADOP.
ADOP further clarified that the adverse analytical finding resulted from independent testing conducted by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) during the Asian Beach Games. Such testing, it said, falls outside the organization’s pre-departure testing scope.
“ADOP did not grant any TUE to Mohammad Inam and did not issue any clearance for the substance in question,” the organization stated, adding that it only became aware of the adverse analytical finding after the fact.
As the matter is currently before the OCA and the decision regarding the B-sample remains pending, ADOP said it would await the outcome of the established anti-doping process before making any further comment on the case.
ADOP reiterated its commitment to clean sport, fair competition and the implementation of applicable anti-doping standards in Pakistan.
