Sharjeel inaugurates Mosimiyat Flyover

KARACHI, Sep 27 (APP): Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport & Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon inaugurated the Mosimiyat Flyover, an important component of the Red Line BRT project.

      On this occasion, Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani and Karachi Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad were also present.

     Before the inauguration, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon visited the Red Line BRT corridor, where the concerned authorities gave him a detailed briefing regarding the ongoing work and progress on the project.

    The Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the Mosimiyat Flyover has been inaugurated today. This overbridge is an important component of the Red Line BRT project and has been opened for traffic. He said that after completion of the protocol, the flyover will be opened for the public within two days, while the public will be able to benefit from it within one day after the inauguration.

    He said that the construction contracts had been made for two years, during this period, a storm of inflation hit the entire country. First, the price of the dollar increased, then the rates of cement increased, and after that, petrol prices also increased. Despite inflation and the rising costs, work on the project was continued.

     He said that the government made agreements with the relevant institutions and all matters were taken forward through mutual consultation. Our entire team worked hard for the completion of the project, and I am proud of my entire team for the speed at which the work on the project was completed.

     Memon said that the difficulties faced by the public in commuting on University Road have almost been eliminated, and the work on University Road has also, almost been completed. Work on the BRT is also continuing, and other works, including the stations, are being completed rapidly. He said that the Government of Sindh has commitment that development works should be carried out in every sector of the city. Various departments are fulfilling their responsibilities for the development of Karachi. Karachi has needed work for its construction and development for a long time, and our effort is to take effective measures in this direction. Providing the public with the best travelling facilities is the government’s top priority.

   He said that the work on University Road has almost been completed. The FWO also carried out the work rapidly, it also faced various difficulties. There were many problems in Karachi, and the K-IV project has still not been completed. The transport problems in Karachi have been resolved to a considerable extent.

    In response to a question, Sharjeel Inam Memon said we do not give importance to the statements of MQM’s Waseem Akhtar. They are doing political point-scoring, therefore, more attention should not be given to their statements.

     In response to another question, he said we understand that there is a parking problem, but whoever comes to buy something will park his vehicle right in front of the shop.

   He said that the two major problems of Karachi are water and traffic, and work is continuing to resolve both these problems. The public should also take care to help resolve the traffic problem; this is a shared responsibility of everyone.

   Memon said that the government’s job is to work; our job is not to engage in blame games. Political parties also have a responsibility. Their job is not only to stage sit-ins but also to protect the general public from inconvenience.

     In response to another question, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that at present, we are constructing the BRT stations and, God willing, the buses will also start operating soon.

      He also apologized to the public for the delay in the BRT project.
