LAHORE, Sep 21 (APP):Punjab Assembly (PA) Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan Monday termed the youth the most valuable asset of the nation and said that the desired change in the country could be brought about through them.
According to a press release issued here, he said this while addressing a youth convention in Khudian Khas, Kasur district.
He said providing young people with opportunities was a fundamental responsibility of the government.
Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan said he wanted Pakistani youth to be educated, politically and socially aware, and conscious of their rights and responsibilities.
“Politics, government and the state belong to the people,” he said, urging young people to play their role in shaping the country’s future.
Referring to the security challenges facing the country, the Speaker said Pakistan’s enemies were attempting to create instability and targeting innocent citizens.
He paid tribute to security personnel for their sacrifices and said the youth stood firmly with the armed forces.
Referring to the incident in Kohat, he said the tragedy had caused widespread grief but added that hostile forces could not break the resolve of the Pakistani nation.
He said national security was essential for ensuring continued economic development and prosperity.
Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan termed education the country’s biggest challenge, saying that improving the education system could help resolve several problems confronting Pakistan. He said around 25 million children were still out of school and stressed the need to ensure access to education for every child.
He also underlined the need to improve the healthcare system, saying that education and health were both essential for the country’s development. He said the Punjab government was taking several measures in the health sector.
He said youth conventions would continue to be organised to empower young people, utilise their abilities and bring them into the mainstream.
Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan also announced development projects for the area, saying that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would attend the groundbreaking ceremony of a motorway project, while Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz would lay the foundation stone of a university in the area.
Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan urged the youth to pursue education, develop awareness and contribute to the development and progress of the country, saying that Pakistan’s future was closely linked with its younger generation.
