CM Maryam orders removal of three Suthra Punjab MDs over poor performance
LAHORE, Sep 29 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday ordered the immediate removal of Managing Directors (MDs) of Suthra Punjab in Kasur, Faisalabad, and Okara following complaints of poor sanitation conditions.
According to a spokesperson, presiding over a high-level meeting to review the performance of the Suthra Punjab program here, the Chief Minister expressed strong displeasure over public complaints and directed the issuance of stern warnings to other relevant MDs. She further declared that officers removed for poor performance would not be assigned new postings.
The Chief Minister directed authorities to revamp the door-to-door waste collection system within 15 days and ordered full activation of the Suthra Punjab beat system across the province. She instructed Deputy Commissioners to conduct daily monitoring of Field Monitoring Officers (FMOs) and directed the establishment of a dedicated section for their supervision. FMOs will also be equipped with body cameras to track their field activities.
The meeting was informed that payments to Suthra Punjab workers had been completed on time across most tehsils. Furthermore, anti-littering squads operating across all divisions conducted 77,137 inspections, issuing 9,353 warnings and registering 19 challans. In Lahore alone, 53,186 inspections were conducted, leading to 2,156 digital challans issued via Safe City cameras.
The forum was briefed that 37,852 waste bins have been installed statewide, while 99 percent of the 676,551 complaints received under the Suthra Punjab program have been resolved successfully.
