LAHORE, May 21 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Saturday visited the DHA residence of former prime minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and felicitated him on the safe return of his son, Ali Haider Gilani.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by his wife Kulsoom Nawaz Sharif and elder son Hussain Nawaz. Nawaz Sharif and his family members were received warmly by Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani.

The Prime Minister greeted Yousaf Raza Gilani and his family on the safe recovery of Ali Haider Gilani. He also presented a bouquet to Ali Haider Gilani. Fauzia Gilani, wife of Yousaf Raza Gilani, was also present.

Parliament heading in right direction on Panama Papers

LAHORE, May 21 (APP): Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Prof Ahsan Iqbal said on Saturday that parliamentary committee had been constituted to determine the TORs for Commission on the Panama papers.

Talking to the media after inaugurating Jamia Mosque Arqam Zamir and Dar-us-Salam Educational Complex here at Doctors’ Colony, he added that after the formation of parliamentary committee, there should not be holding of self-styled courts in the television talk shows and political public meetings.

To a question, he said TORs should be determined in a manner that everyone had to be made accountable in this regard.

THATTA, May 21 (APP): Minister of State and BISP Chairperson Marvi Memon Saturday said despite hurdles being created by the opposition, the PML-N government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif would continue to serve the masses and make Pakistan a developed and prosperous country.

The government, she said, had initiated many mega projects in various sectors, particularly in the energy sector, with the objective to provide maximum relief to the people and improve their living standards, but the opposition did not want their betterment.

Imran wasting time of nation: Skindar Bosan

MULTAN, May 21 (APP): Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Skindar Hayyat Bosan on Saturday said PTI chief Imran Khan was wasting time of the nation on Panama Leaks probe.

Addressing a meeting at Qasim Bella here, he said a large number of development projects had been initiated by the incumbent government which would be completed before 2018 general elections.

ISLAMABAD, May 21 (APP): Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif held a meeting with Prime Minister of Qatar Abdullah bin Nasser Bin Al Thani in Doha on Saturday.

According to a tweet of the minister, he discussed with the prime minister matters relating to the defence cooperation, import of labour from Pakistan and investment in energy sector of the country.

“During a meeting with the Prime Minister of Qatar in Doha, matters relating to defence cooperation, import of labour and investment in energy sector were discussed,” said the tweet.

JHANG, May 21 (APP): At least ten persons including women
and children were killed while 18 others sustained injuries when their passenger bus collided with a truck near Nasirabad, early on Saturday morning.

Rescue sources said the ill fated Jhang bound bus from
Khushab was dashed against a mini truck coming from opposite direction.

Rescue teams rushed to the mishap site as soos as the
report was received and shifted dead and injured to hospitals with precarious condition.

“The fundamental equality of all people, the imperative to seek justice, and the interdependence of life and the environment are more than abstract concepts for scholars to debate; they are living guidelines for Buddhists and others navigating the path to a better future,” he said.

“Vesak,” the Day of the Full Moon in the month of May, is the most sacred day to millions of Buddhists around the world. It was on the Day of Vesak two and a half millennia ago, in the year 623 B.C., that the Buddha was born. With hottest April on record, above average global temperatures continue:UN

UNITED NATIONS, May 21 (APP): Global temperature records were broken yet again in April for the 12th consecutive month, the longest such streak since global record taking began in 1880, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) reported Saturday.

Overall, 13 out of the 15 highest monthly temperature departures in the record have all occurred since February 2015, with the combined average temperature over global land and ocean surfaces for April 2016 measured at 1.10 degrees Celsius above the 20th century average of 13.7 degrees Celsius, the highest temperature departure since in the 137 year record of the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, WMO said in a press release.

Afghan cyclists bring message of peace to UN HQ.

UNITED NATIONS, May 21 (APP): An Afghan father and his son came to United Nations Headquarters in New York Friday on the final leg their round the world trip to promote peace that included cycling 7,000 miles from Istanbul.

Calling their mission, which crossed three continents, a
journey of peace and solidarity, Nader Shah Nangarhari and his son Firoz Khan began their journey in July 2015.

They met with Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, presenting him with a traditional Afghan ‘Chapa’ coat.

SWAT May 20, (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif here Friday formally inaugurated the state-of-the-art ‘Nawaz Sharif Kidney Hospital’ (NSKH) to provide best possible medical treatment to patients of nephrology, kidney and other diseases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at their doorsteps.

The prime minister inaugurated the 110-bed hospital, located on the main Kalam-Swat Road at Minglawar Town near Mingora, by unveiling a plaque.

PCB confirms submitting application for Amir’s UK visa

ISLAMABAD, May 20 (APP): Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday confirmed that the visa application of pacer Mohammad Amir has been submitted to the United Kingdom (UK) Embassy.

According to the UK visa laws, a foreign individual’s visa application will be denied for up to 10 years if he or she has served a jail sentence of one year to four years within the UK. Amir, Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif were banned after the unfortunate spot-fixing incident that took place in Pakistan’s tour of England in 2010.

He spent six-months in juvenile prison and was banned for five-years from all form of cricket by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
