MINGORA, May 20 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Friday said the Pakistan Muslim League was a beacon of hope for the disillusioned people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who were promised of a change, but which was never delivered.

Addressing a large gathering after inaugurating the Nawaz
Sharif Kidney Hospital, the Prime Minister said the PML N was
striving hard to serve the masses and bring about a real revolution in their lives.

The huge crowd waved the green PML N flags and continued to raise slogans throughout the event. Prime Minister also waved to the crowd who responded with cheers.

Pakistan extends condolences over demise of Hurriyat leader

condolences to government and the people of Sri Lanka over the loss of lives and property due to recent flash floods in the various parts of the country.

Loss of more than 200 lives and displacement of over 400,000 people was reported due to devastating floods and the record rainfall in Sri Lanka.

“Pakistan expresses solidarity with all those who have suffered due to these rains.

PM inaugurates state-of-the-art Nawaz Sharif Kidney Hospital in Swat

SWAT May 20, (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif here Friday formally inaugurated the state-of-the-art ‘Nawaz Sharif Kidney Hospital’ (NSKH) to provide best possible medical treatment to patients of nephrology, kidney and other diseases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at their doorsteps.

The prime minister inaugurated the 110-bed hospital, located on the main Kalam-Swat Road at Minglawar Town near Mingora, by unveiling a plaque.

He was accompanied by Advisor to the Prime Minister Engr Amir Muqam, former Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK)
Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan, KPK PML-N President Pir Sabir Shah,  senior PML-N leader Siranjum Khan, Focal Personal Punjab Hospital Trust Javed Akram and other government officials of Punjab and KP besides elite of the city.

PCB confirms submitting application for Amir’s UK visa

ISLAMABAD, May 20 (APP): Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday confirmed that the visa application of pacer Mohammad Amir has been submitted to the United Kingdom (UK) Embassy.

According to the UK visa laws, a foreign individual’s visa application will be denied for up to 10 years if he or she has served a jail sentence of one year to four years within the UK. Amir, Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif were banned after the unfortunate spot-fixing incident that took place in Pakistan’s tour of England in 2010.

He spent six-months in juvenile prison and was banned for five-years from all form of cricket by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

PM urges Ministries to adopt Urdu as official language

ISLAMABAD, May 20 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Friday asked all Ministries, Divisions and government organisations for immediate measures for the use of Urdu as official language, as it was a Constitutional requirement.

Talking to Advisor on National History and Literary
Heritage Irfan Siddiqui, who called on him here at the PM
House, the Prime Minister said all government departments need to focus on the ten points already given in this regard.

He also asked that a report be submitted to him to show
progress made for use of Urdu as the official language.

Birds poaching on the rise wild life least concerned

ISLAMABAD, May 20 (APP): As one can see and purchase different kinds of birds from different markets and even on roads, the agricultural scientists have warned that the illegal poaching of some certain species of birds was spoiling the eco system.

The poaching and sale of different birds, even rare and endangered species, is on the rise as the seller can be seen on the roads but the concerned wild life department has turned a blind eye to curtail the practice and apprehend the responsible.

The women sellers of black partridges, from far flung Punjab and Sindh area, can be seen on Lehtrar Road selling the endangered species offering from Rs 3000 to 7000.

Hot dry weather likely to persists

According to PMD, Mainly very hot and dry weather was expected over most parts of the country.

Remembering musician A. Hameed on his death anniversary

According to Radio Pakistan , Abdul Hameed was born in Amritsar (India).

He started his career from Bombay’s film world and later moved to Lahore, where his name became famous as a leading music composer for Pakistani movies.

PCB to make seaming pitches to prepare players for England tour

ISLAMABAD, May 20 (APP): Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to make seaming pitches to prepare national team for their over two-month long England tour.

During Pakistan’s tour of England (July 3 to September 7), the two teams are scheduled to play four Tests, five ODIs and a T20 match.

“The chief curator will be asked to prepare fresh seaming pitches,  similar to that of England to give practice to players,” a source in PCB told APP on Friday.

Early harvest, CPEC projects adding 17,045 MW electricity to national grid

ISLAMABAD, MAY 20 (APP): As much as 17,045 megawatts of energy would be generated through early harvest prioritized as well as actively promoted China Pakistan
Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects all across the country to overcome energy crisis, bolstering economic activities and promote growth.

Electricity of 5,785 megawatt would be generated through various hydel, coal, wind and solar projects in Punjab provinces followed by 5,630 megawatt in Sindh, 2,940 megawatt in Baluchistan, 870 megawatts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while 1,820 megawatt electricity would be generated in Azad Jammu and Kashmir under the project,
official sources told APP.

Out of the total CPEC energy projects, 10,400 would be generated through early harvest prioritized energy projects including 4,4210 MW in Sindh, 3,640 MW in Punjab, 960 MW in Baluchistan, 870 MW in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 720 MW in AJK.

Premier Li Keqiang on Friday extended felicitations to Pakistani government and people on the 65th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan, terming Pakistan a “good neighbour, close friend, trusted partner and dear brother of China”.

In their separate messages addressed to President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on the 65th anniversary falling on May 21, the Chinese leadership said China-Pakistan relations had stood the tests of changes of international and domestic situations and made headway constantly.

President Xi Jinping said China and Pakistan are all-weather
strategic partners and mentioned that in recent years, their ties had maintained strong momentum of development.

session “Discovering a lost paradise along China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, (CPEC)” was held at the Tsinghua University Beijing on Thursday, says a press release received here on Friday.

The prominent participants included Ambassador of Pakistan to China Masood Khalid, the Vice Chairperson of Tsinghua University Council Han Jingyang, Liu Binjie Director of Education, Science, Culture and Health Committee of the National People’s Congress, Chairman CITIC foundation Kong Dan, President of China Pakistan Friendship Association Sha Zukang, Senator Mushahid Hussain and Li Xiguang Director of Pakistan Culture and Communication Centre at Tsinghua.
