Quake victims term PM’s compensation package a positive endeavour

PESHAWAR, Oct 28 (APP): The earthquake victims of Khyber
Pakthunkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas have termed the
Prime Minister’s compensation package a positive endeavour to help
them reconstruct their damaged houses, besides meeting their
financial loss.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at a meeting here Wednesday
announced compensation of Rs 600,000 for the each dead, Rs 100,000 for
each injured with Rs 200,000 each for for those who have lost a limb
or become disabled, besides Rs 200,000 for a completely damaged
house and Rs 100,000 for partially damaged one.
Retired government employee Misal Khan, a resident of Nowshera,
told APP that the Prime Minister had won hearts of the people of KP
and FATA by announcing a comprehensive relief package for the victims
of Monday’s powerful earthquake.
The distribution of compensation cheques within four days as
announced by the Prime Minister, would enable the affected people to reconstruct their (damaged) houses before the harsh cold weather
set in, he added. Appreciating the package, Anwarullah Salarzai, a tribal elder of
Bajaur Agency, said it was well in time step by the Prime Minister
which would help the earthquake victims to return their normal lives
soon.
He also lauded the government’s quick relief and rescue activities
reaching far flung areas of hilly terrains in no time.
He said the Prime Minister’s visits to the worst hit districts of
Chitral and Shangla despite his hectic officials engagements reflected
his commitment to help resolve the victims’ problems.
