ISLAMABAD, Mar 17 (APP):Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi Monday met with United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Pakistan Ahmed Al-Tahiri and discussed bilateral cooperation, particularly in rail sector.
Ambassador Al-Tahiri congratulated Hanif Abbasi on assuming his new role and extended his best wishes for his tenure, said a news release.
The envoy also expressed deep sorrow over the recent terrorist attack on the Jaffar Express in Baluchistan, where the terrorists attempted to hijack the train and took passengers hostage.
The ambassador condemned the attack and conveyed his sympathies to the victims and their families.
During the meeting, both sides acknowledged the longstanding and strong ties between Pakistan and the UAE.
The ambassador reaffirmed his country’s commitment to further strengthening this partnership, emphasizing the deep-rooted friendship and mutual respect between the two nations.
The minister highlighted Pakistan Railways’ ongoing efforts to enhance services through strategic partnerships with domestic and international suppliers.
He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment and encouraged UAE investment in the country’s railway infrastructure.
Both the sides explored opportunities for expanding economic and trade relations, with a particular focus on railway projects and broader investment opportunities.
They agreed to continue discussions and collaborate further in the rail sector and other economic domains.
