Main Ashura procession culminates in Lahore

LAHORE, Oct 24 (APP): The main Shabeh Zuljinnah procession of the city culminated at its traditional place, Karbala Gamay Shah near Bhaati Chowk at 8:15 pm on Saturday, where Agha Shah Hussain Qazalbash
led the concluding Dua of the procession.
The main procession was appeared from Nisar Haveli near Mochi Gate at around 10:00 pm on Friday (October 23) and throughout Saturday marched on its traditional route including Masjid Wazir Khan, Rang Mahal Chowk, Akbari Mandi, Paniwala Talab, Bazaar Hakiman, Imambargah Syed Wajid Ali Shah, Chowk Nawab Sahib, Koocha Qazi Khana, Imambargah Molvi Feroz Ali, Koocha Miskeenan, Mohalla Peer Gillanian, Imambargah Syed Rajab Ali Shah, Chauhatta Mufti Baqir, Chowk Kotwali, Kashmiri Bazaar, Sonehri Masjid, Dabbi Bazaar, Gumtti Bazaar, Syed Mittha Bazaar, Tehsil Bazaar, Bazaar Hakimaan, Ucchi Masjid and Bhatti Gate Chowk.
During the procession, the mourners held Majalis-e-Azadari at main junctions of the route and also flagellate themselves to express their deep sentiments and aspirations with Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), who laid down his life in Karbala for the cause of justice, righteousness and elevation of Islam.
While, Anjuman Shiiti Haider-e-Karar and other Shiiti organizations made arrangements to serve meal, beverages, tea and milk to the mourners during the procession.
The law enforcement agencies made elaborate security arrangements to ensure full protection to the participants of the procession as well as the public and private property.
Other major processions were also taken out from Islampura, Old Anarkali, Ghaziabad, Nickolson Road and Imamia Colony.
All the SPs, DSPs and SHOs remained alert to check the any activity by criminals and miscreants in their respective areas so as to avoid any untoward incident on Ashura.
