ITP brings driving licence services to citizens’ doorsteps with new online facility

ISLAMABAD, Oct 18 (APP):Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has introduced a new online facility allowing citizens to obtain learner driving permits, renew their driving licences and apply for duplicate licences from the comfort of their homes, with renewed and duplicate licences to be delivered directly to their doorsteps through courier service.
An ITP official told APP on Sunday that the initiative was launched on the directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Captain (Retd) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry to provide citizens with modern, convenient and time-saving services.
He said the new system would enable citizens to complete the application process online without visiting Traffic Headquarters or police facilitation centres.
The official said applicants could access the services through the Islamabad Traffic Police’s official portal, https://dlims.islamabadpolice.gov.pk/, where they could register and submit applications for learner permits, licence renewals and duplicate licences in case of loss or damage.
He said that from Monday, October 19, these services would no longer be available at Traffic Headquarters Faizabad and other Islamabad Police Khidmat Centres, as the application process would be shifted to the online platform.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad Kainat Azhar Khan said the introduction of online services marked an important step towards improving public facilitation and making driving licence services more accessible.
She said renewed and duplicate driving licences would be delivered to applicants’ residential addresses through TCS courier service, saving them from repeated visits to traffic police offices.
Citizens will no longer need to make unnecessary visits to police offices to receive their renewed or duplicate driving licences, she said.
The CTO Kainat advised citizens to carefully enter their complete names, correct residential addresses and active mobile phone numbers when submitting online applications.
She said accurate information was essential to ensure timely delivery of licences, warning that incorrect or incomplete addresses could cause delays.
Kainat said the new facility would help citizens save valuable time and reduce the inconvenience associated with visiting offices for routine licensing services.
She added that Islamabad Traffic Police was working to improve the quality of its services through the effective use of technology, with public convenience and efficient service delivery remaining its top priorities.
