ISLAMABAD, Apr 09 (APP):The Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) hosted a roundtable discussion on “Pakistan-China Relations: Between Rivals and Realignment” to highlight the insights on CPEC’s role in boosting economic ties between Pakistan and China and implications on US-China-Pakistan trilateral relations, as well as China-Pakistan-India relations.
The event brought together experts and officials from Pakistan and China to discuss the current situation and future direction of bilateral and regional relations, said a press release on Wednesday.
Speakers from Pakistan who participated in the discussion included former Foreign Minister and Ambassador Inamul Haq; Ambassador Khan Hasham Bin Siddique; Khalid Mansoor, former Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on CPEC Affairs; Haroon Sharif, former Minister of State and Chairman of the Board of Investment (BOI), who also served as Regional Advisor to the World Bank for South and Central Asia; President IPRI; Director Research & Analysis IPRI; Ambassador Inamul Haque and IPRI Team.
Speakers of Chinese side included Lei Xin, Deputy Director General of the Information Center at the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPEC; Ding Hui, Deputy Division Chief; Zhu Caiyun, Deputy Division Chief; and Zhou Chenyu, Assistant Secretary of Bureau I for South and Southeast Asian Affairs.
The discussions focused on the dynamics of Pakistan-China relations, with particular emphasis on the CPEC, geopolitical changes in South Asia, and China’s evolving global role.
The conversation also highlighted the importance of addressing challenges in the Pakistan-China relationship while exploring opportunities for further cooperation.
The participants emphasized the need for sustained engagement to address geopolitical concerns and promote peace in South Asia.
The IPRI roundtable served as an important forum for dialogue on Pakistan-China relations, offering a platform for experts to discuss issues related to diplomacy, security, and economic cooperation.
The event aimed to contribute to a deeper understanding of the factors shaping bilateral ties and the broader regional landscape.
