ISLAMABAD, Nov 07 (APP):The Power Division on Saturday clarified that the industrial electricity tariff had not been increased, terming a media report suggesting an increase misleading and factually incorrect.
A spokesperson for the Power Division said the  Rs. 25.30 per unit cited in the headline is the revised marginal rate under the Incremental Consumption Package for industrial and agricultural consumers. It is not the industrial tariff, the Spokesperson added.
The industrial electricity tariff has been reduced by approximately Rs. 18.94 per unit, inclusive of all taxes, compared with the tariff applicable in March 2024.
The Spokesperson stated that the  average industrial rate in October 2026 stood at Rs. 34.40 per kWh, excluding taxes. The package is being revised because marginal generation costs have risen due to the prevailing war situation.
The Spokesperson while further clarifying about the temporary nature of increase in the incrimental package said that the  revised marginal rates will apply from November 2026.
While commenting on the impact of NEPRA determination the Spokesperson said that the  adjustment ensures that the cost of relief under the package is not passed on to other consumers, particularly non-beneficiaries.
The Spokesperson said that the package has delivered substantial relief. Between December 2025 and September 2026, a total 6,940 GWh of incremental consumption was covered, and an estimated Rs. 43.5 billion benefit has already passed on to consumers. Industrial consumers received a benefit of Rs. 5 to Rs. 10 per unit on incremental consumption, which lowered their overall bills by an average of Rs. 1.5 to Rs. 2.5 per unit.
The Spokesperson said that In total , 209,335 of 518,316 eligible consumers, about 40 percent, have benefited so far from the package.
