ISLAMABAD, Jan 15 (APP):Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has installed over 480,000 Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI meters) in Rawalpindi City and Rawalpindi Cantonment circles till December 2024 against total target of 1.2 million.
Project Director AMI Mohsin Raza Gilani said AMI meters are being installed on all industries and high losses feeders throughout the IESCO region to get better results.
He said that AMI meters installation in Rawalpindi Sadar, Civil Line, Chaklala, Korang, Swan, Jhanda Chichi, Morgah, Tariqabad, Quaid-e-Azam Colony, F Block, Chandi Chowk, Muslim Town, Kangal, Dhok Kala Khan and Gulzar Quaid has been completed successfully.
He said the technology will ensure automated timely and 100 percent accurate meter readings, timely bills distribution, power theft control, automatic complaint registration, timely bills recovery, distribution system monitoring etc. and due to balanced and stable system transformer and meter burnt cases will also minimize.
Gilani said net metering facility is also available in 3 phase AMI meters. Replacement of old meters with AMI meters is totally free of cost. This technology is a revolutionary step in the power sector towards positive reforms and better customer services.
He said providing quality and timely services to valuable electricity consumers by using modern technology in the power sector is the aim and the vision of the Federal Government of Pakistan and the Ministry of Energy Power Division.
By following the same vision Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has started the installation of state of the art Advanced metering Infrastructure AMI meters in Rawalpindi city circle and Rawalpindi cantt circle, he added.
