ISLAMABAD, Jan 15 (APP): The National Assembly Special Committee on Gender Mainstreaming met at the Parliament House here Wednesday to review the election of its Chairperson.
During the meeting, Syed Hussain Tariq, MNA proposed the name of Dr. Nafisa Shah, MNA, as Chairperson of the Special Committee on Gender Mainstreaming while Ms. Shaista Pervaiz and other MNAs and Senators seconded the proposal. Since there was no other candidate for contesting the election, therefore, Dr. Nafisa Shah, MNA was unanimously elected as Chairperson of the Special Committee on Gender Mainstreaming.
Dr. Nafisa Shah, MNA thanked all the members of Committee for reposing confidence in her and for their support. All members of the Committee congratulated her on being elected as Chairperson of the very important Committee and assured their full support to work together for Gender Mainstreaming.
Earlier, Aqeel Malik, MNA tendered his resignation from the Chairmanship of the Committee due to his personal engagements. He also enlightened the key issues of Gender Mainstreaming. Thereafter, Muhammad Mushtaq, Advisor (Legislation) briefed the Committee about the procedure for election of the Chairperson.
The meeting was attended by Aqeel Malik, Syed Hussain Tariq, Sher Ali Arbab, Ms. Shaista Pervaiz and Ms. Shahida Begum, MNAs, Senators Rubina Qaim Khani, Saadia Abbasi and Khalida Ateeb.
