ISLAMABAD, Oct 25 (APP): Chairman Overseas Pakistan Foundation
(OPF) Board of Governors Barrister Amjad Malik Tuesday directed the OPF authorities for timely completion of all ongoing housing projects of the organization besides enhancing its services for expatriates.
Barrister Amjad Malik issued these directions while chairing the 135th meeting of OPF Board of Governors at OPF Head Office, said a press release.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Khizar Hayat Khan,Managing Director, OPF Habib Ur Rehman Gilani, Capt. ® Shaheen Khalid (USA), Ch. Noor ul Hassan Tanvir (UAE), Muhammad Jahangir Minhas (AJK), Sahibzada Saeed Ahmed, Head (SSU), Waqar Ahmed, Joint Secretary Ministry of Finance and Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui Director, IBA Sukhar.
The Board was informed that OPF has distributed Rs. 163.20
million among families of deceased and disabled overseas Pakistanis during first quarter of the current financial year.
The Board appreciated OPF for disbursement of over Rs. 163million among expatriates’ families.
The Board accorded its formal approval to sign Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) with Overseas Punjab Commission for jointly
resolution of grievances of overseas Pakistanis.
During the meeting, the Board reviewed progress report regarding resolution of problems being faced by Pakistani workers at Damam.
The Community Welfare Attache at Riyadh Abdul Shakor Sheikh
briefed the Board on telephone about welfare activities being taken by Pakistan Mission at Saudi Arabia.
He informed that majority of the cases of Pakistani workers have been processed.
The Board asked the Chairman to visit Saudi Arabia and furnished his report regarding initiatives being taken by the government for esolution of current crisis of Pakistani workers.
The Board was also briefed about upcoming Convention of overseas Pakistanis next year, compilation of Advisory Council comprising overseas Pakistanis from all over the world.
The Board expressed its concern over delay in completion of development works at OPF Housing Scheme Zone V, Islamabad and directed the Housing and Works Division to come up with its report clearly indicating time line for completion of the projects in the next Board’s meeting.
