CDA chairman orders measures to ease Kashmir Chowk traffic

ISLAMABAD, Sep 22 (APP):Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Sohail Ashraf on Tuesday directed officials to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow at Kashmir Chowk and minimise inconvenience to commuters during construction of the underpass being built at the busy junction.

The chairman issued the directions during a visit to Kashmir Chowk, where he reviewed progress on the underpass project and the traffic management measures in place.

He was briefed by the director general infrastructure on the progress of work, ongoing activities and the timeline for completion.

The chairman directed the concerned formations to ensure that temporary traffic arrangements remained effective until completion of the underpass. He also called for special attention to traffic management during peak hours.

Officials briefed him on a traffic management solution for Kashmir Chowk and Murree Road aimed at addressing bottlenecks and improving vehicular movement.

The chairman directed the authorities to coordinate with relevant departments and focus on lane management, road improvements and connectivity between major roads to minimise disruption caused by the development works.

He also directed the director general infrastructure, project directors and field officers to conduct regular inspections and closely monitor the pace and quality of construction.

Any bottleneck affecting the project, he said, should be identified and resolved without delay.

The chairman further directed that the underpass and other development projects be completed within the stipulated timelines while adhering to engineering and safety standards.

He said work on underpasses, bridges, roads and other infrastructure projects was being accelerated to improve mobility and address traffic problems in the capital.

Commuters at Kashmir Chowk welcomed the measures being taken to address congestion and expressed hope that timely completion of the underpass would provide lasting relief.
