LAHORE, Jul 02 (APP): The United States (US) government has donated 2.5 million doses of the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine to Pakistan to help the country control the spread of novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
According to a press release by the US Consulate General, Lahore on Friday, the 2.5 million vaccines arrived Pakistani by a special flight and will be administered to the Pakistani people. The Covid-19 jabs have been delivered in partnership among Covid-19 Vaccine Global Access (COVAX), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Government of Pakistan.
“These vaccines will save lives and help Pakistan emerge from this crisis, which has devastated so many families and communities in both our countries. A vaccinated public will also help bring back the economic and social interactions we all welcome,” said Charge d’ affaires a.i. Angela Aggeler.
In addition to today’s vaccine donation, says the press release, the US has delivered nearly $50 million in COVID-19 assistance through its partnership with the @GovtofPakistan, adding that both the countries have worked together to improve laboratory testing, disease monitoring, and patient care since start of the pandemic.
