Tyvek suits distributed among healthcare professionals

LAHORE, Sep 03 (APP):A distribution ceremony of Tyvek protective suits to healthcare professionals was held at the Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education, in which Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique participated as a special guest.
Additional Secretary Technical Dr. Waseem, Dean IPH Prof. Zarfashan Tahir, Director CDC Dr. Yadullah and Dr. Yahya Gulzar in charge of the World Health Organisation were present while MS General Hospital Dr. Frayad, MS Children’s Hospital Multan, MS Allied Hospital One Faisalabad, MS BBH Rawalpindi, Dr. Jawaria Khalid and other MSs participated through video link.
Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said: “We pay thanks to World Health Organisation (WHO) for providing Tyvek suits for doctors of high dependency units (HDUs) of nine different government hospitals for monkeypox patients. Not a single case of monkeypox has been reported in Punjab so far.” The Health Department is on full alert regarding monkeypox and is raising awareness among the public, the minister added.
Talking on the occasion the health minister said passengers of every flight are being screened for monkeypox at six airports in Punjab. Soon after the WHO issued an alert, Punjab Health Department started preparations in this regard, he added.
