PESHAWAR, Jul 21 (APP): Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar on Sunday said every possible support would be extended to the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to strengthen its Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).
Talking to journalists after offering fateha for eternal peace of late Ghualm Sabir, father of Principal Information Officer, Mubashir Hassan here at his residence, the federal minister said
it was the responsibility of the KP government to take steps in the wake of recent law and order situation in the province, especially the southern districts.
Tarar mentioned that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had directed the upgradation of CTD in KP on the pattern of Punjab.
He recalled that earlier Shehbaz Sharif as chief minister of Punjab had eradicated terrorism in the province after successful operations.
To a question about recent incident in Bannu, the Information Minister said the people of the country were aware about the elements who disrupted the peace march for political gains.
He said eight brave soldiers of Pakistan embraced martyrdom in the Bannu suicide attack, but saved the city from a big catestrophe.
Tarar said people from a political party revived the mindset of Taliban and committed violence on 9th May last year by setting alight the buildings of Radio Pakistan, Peshawar and Chaghi Model in its vacinity.
He expressed concern over the law and order situation in southern districts of KP and emphasized that great responsibility rested with the KP government to ensure peace.
Attaullah Tarar said when Shehbaz Sharif took over as prime minister, the country was at the verge of bankruptcy and default. Tough economic and fiscal decisions of PM Sharif put the country on road to prosperity, he said. He said that Pakistan Muslim League was the only party under whose rule the country achieved great success and prosperity.
He said under the digitalization of Federal Board of Revenue, huge amount of money was being recovered.
The federal minister said the government controlled price hike that led to significant reduction in petrol prices.
He said the government was giving top priory to solarization and up to 1.2 million tube wells were being converted to solar energy in Balochistan, adding that it would help bring a green revolution besides saving billions.
Earlier, Tarar offered fateha and offered condolences to Principal Information Officer Mubashir Hassan over the death of his father. PMLN-KP spokesman Ikhtiar Wali and former Governor KP Iqbal Zafar Jhagra were also present.
