SPA maintains sanitation operations amid rain
RAWALPINDI, Aug 18 (APP):Despite intermittent heavy rainfall over the past few days, workers of the Suthra Punjab Agency (SPA) have remained active across the city to maintain cleanliness and facilitate drainage in low-lying areas.
According to an SPA spokesman, sanitation teams continued drain cleaning, waste collection, garbage lifting and manual sweeping operations during the rain to prevent water accumulation and minimise inconvenience to residents.
He said workers remained on alert in vulnerable areas, while special cleanliness arrangements were made during morning and evening hours to ensure the smooth flow of rainwater.
The spokesman said the awareness campaign for the Clean Punjab Programme’s Helpline 1139 was also continuing despite the inclement weather. Awareness pamphlets were distributed in markets, while information about the helpline was disseminated through megaphones and public announcements from vehicles.
He urged residents to support the organisation’s efforts to keep the city clean and contact Helpline 1139 for sanitation-related complaints.
