PESHAWAR, Jan 16 (APP):A high-level meeting was held at the Peshawar Civil Secretariat under the chairmanship of Secretary of Industry, Commerce, and Technical Education Aamir Afaq, attended by the presidents of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chambers of Commerce and Industry and other important figures here on Thursday.
The purpose of the meeting was to deliberate on the tax system for the merged districts and formulate a better strategy.
DG Industries Iftikhar Alam, Additional Secretary Junaid Khattak, CEO KP Azmak Adil Salahuddin, representatives of SIDB, and senior officials were also present at the meeting.
On this occasion, the presidents of various chambers highlighted the problems of tax exemption and its misuse and stressed the need for effective policies. President of Kohat Chamber Rashid Paracha suggested that the benefit
of tax exemption should be limited to local people only and its misuse should be prevented through strict policies. He also said that small industries should be given complete tax exemption so that the pace of development in the merged districts accelerates. In addition, he gave a detailed explanation of the problems and solutions related to the promotion of industry and trade in Kohat.
Other participants, including President of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Fazal Muqeem, the President of Bajaur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Haji Lali Shah, Group Leader of the Khyber Chamber of Commerce and Industry Syed Jawad Kazmi, and business leaders, also presented their suggestions.
The participants emphasized that transparency and fair policies should be ensured in the tax system so that maximum benefits can be provided to the local people.
