RAWALPINDI, Feb 27 (APP): Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) here on Thursday launched an operation and sealed over 50 properties on Defence Road.
According to a RDA spokesman, RDA Enforcement Squad on the directives of Director General (DG) RDA, Kinza Murtaza conducted an operation and took action in accordance with the law against the rules violators.
The Enforcement Squad demolished sheds, ramps, fences, and sealed over 50 properties, including structures, shops, and buildings which were constructed in violations of the rules and obstructing road access.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to restore order and improve both pedestrian safety and vehicular movement along the road, the spokesman said.
The DG said that grand anti-encroachment operation is being conducted according to the vision of the Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who has issued a zero-tolerance policy on encroachments.
Kinza Murtaza said the removal of the encroachments is essential for ensuring smooth flow of traffic and providing a safer environment to the citizens.
The DG further said that this operation is just the beginning of an ongoing effort to improve Rawalpindi’s infrastructure. Encroachments not only contribute to traffic congestion but also pose significant safety hazards. It is crucial to restore accessible and safe streets for the residents, she added.
In line with the city’s urban development strategy, RDA has planned to conduct similar operations across Rawalpindi. These actions are aimed at optimizing infrastructure and improving the quality of life for all the citizens.
She urged the citizens to cooperate with the authorities concerned in maintaining encroachment-free zones to ensure that Rawalpindi’s streets remain safe, accessible, and congestion-free.
Assistant Director BC, Muhammad Dawood, Building Superintendent, Fahad Bhatti, Building Inspector, Muhammad Bilal, Building Surveyor, Aamir Mahmood Malik, and others took part in the operation.
