ISLAMABAD, Mar 05 (APP):Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP), under a special campaign, took legal action against 5,747 vehicles with fancy number plates, 3,769 motorcyclists without helmets, 14,163 for illegal parking, 2,340 for driving in the wrong direction, and 6,397 for red light violations in February.
A public relations officer told APP on Wednesday that following the special directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the ITP is committed to providing the best possible travel facilities to citizens while ensuring the strict enforcement of traffic laws.
Additionally, indiscriminate legal action is being taken against violators to prevent accidents and maintain smooth traffic flow.
During February, the ITP issued fines to 61,842 motorists, including motorcyclists, freight, and public transport vehicles, for violating traffic regulations.
Moreover, action was taken against 2,955 individuals for not wearing seat belts, 1,087 for using mobile phones while driving, 854 for having black-tinted windows, and 25,617 for other traffic violations. Additionally, 8,458 vehicles and motorcycles were impounded at various police stations for serious offenses.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Zeeshan urged citizens to adhere to traffic laws and cooperate with the ITP to ensure a well-integrated traffic system in the city and the effective implementation of regulations.
CTO further stated that the Islamabad Traffic Police is taking all possible measures to prevent accidents and enforce the rule of law impartially.
