ABBOTTABAD, Jul 22 (APP):Commissioner Hazara Division Syed Zaheer-ul-Islam Monday launched the Monsoon Plantation Campaign 2024 with a pledge to plant more than 1.8 million trees across Hazara Division.
The inauguration ceremony took place at Commissioner House Abbottabad, where Commissioner Syed Zaheer-ul-Islam and DIG Hazara Tahir Ayub Khan planted saplings to mark the beginning of this ambitious environmental initiative.
Highlighting the significance of tree planting, Syed Zaheer-ul-Islam emphasized its crucial role in enhancing the local climate and ecosystem. “Our efforts today will transform our landscape into a heaven, purifying our air and providing essential resources like food and medicine,” he remarked. Stressing the importance of collective action, he urged every individual to contribute generously to this initiative during the monsoon season.
Deputy Commissioners Khalid Iqbal and Dr. Adnan Khan , as well as senior officials from various departments were also present on the occasion. Commissioner Hazara also called upon all Deputy Commissioners of the region to oversee the campaign in their districts actively, ensuring robust participation from government agencies and the public alike.
Reflecting on the economic impact of forestry and agriculture, Syed Zaheer-ul-Islam highlighted their historical contribution to Pakistan’s economy, underscoring the need for renewed focus and investment in these sectors to drive national development. Earlier Chief Conservator Forest Muhammad Yousaf Khan briefed in detail the participants of the meeting regarding Monsoon Plantation Campaign 2024.
