MNA Tahira Aurangzeb visits Nullah Lai to review water level

RAWALPINDI, Aug 08 (APP): Member National Assembly (MNA) Tahira Aurangzeb along with Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Engineer Amir Khattak here on Thursday visited Gawalmandi and Pirwadhai areas to review water level in Nullah Lai.

On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Rawalpindi Hasan Waqar Cheema was also present.

Tahira Aurangzeb and Engineer Amir Khattak inspected the water level in Nullah Lai following heavy rain in twin cities, Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

Tahira Aurangzeb said, all possible steps were being taken by the Rawalpindi district administration to deal with any emergency and urban flooding.

She further said that Nullah Lai was cleaned before start of Monsoon rains on the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

Despite heavy rains in twin cities, situation remained under control and there was no urban flooding in city areas, she said.
Tahira Aurangzeb appreciated arrangements made by the district administration and Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi for Monsoon.

The Commissioner said that due to the timely cleaning of Nullah Lai and other drains, no problem was faced during this season.

The officers concerned and staff had been deployed at 19 vulnerable points near Nullah Lai, he added.
Aamir Khattak said that Rawalpindi District Administration had done a great job.

The DC said that all the relevant departments were on high alert. The leaves of the officers and personnel of all the concerned institutions were cancelled and best possible arrangements were made for Monsoon, he added.
