PESHAWAR, Apr 09 (APP):A high-level flood in Ghot Gol stream in the Morkho area of Upper Chitral has forced the evacuation of local residents to safer locations.
The flood was triggered by melting snow from the surrounding mountains.
Local administration on Wednesday said the strong floodwaters caused significant damage to crops and several connecting roads near the stream. However, there have been no casualties, as timely evacuation measures were taken before the floodwaters reached populated areas.
Meanwhile, at Kaldam Shahingar near Drosh, heavy flooding caused the complete closure of the Peshawar-Chitral Road to all types of traffic. As a result, tourists and travelers were stranded along the route.
Authorities are continuing efforts to assess the damage and restore access to affected areas.
