MIRPUR-AJK, Jul 26 (APP):The US-based Acting Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Yasin Malik faction, Raja Muzaffar and Director of the Board of South Asia Democracy Watch USA has called for a constructive approach to resolving the long-standing Kashmir issue.
In a statement released to media here on Friday, Raja Muzaffar responded to the recent US travel advisory on Kashmir, stating that the Indian government’s reaction to the advisory is “unjustified and misguided.”
“Instead of debating the issue negatively in the media, India and Pakistan should take this advisory as a reminder that Kashmir remains a contentious issue that requires a peaceful resolution,” Muzaffar suggested.
The JKLF (Y) leader emphasized that the aspirations and wishes of the Kashmiri people must be taken into account and their desire for independence from both countries should be acknowledged.
“The US advisory is a wake-up call for both nations to engage in meaningful dialogue and work towards a solution that prioritizes the well-being and unrestricted self-determination of the Kashmiri people,” Muzaffar said.
Muzaffar’s comments come at a time when tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated over the Kashmir issue.
His organization, South Asia Democracy Watch USA and JKLF (Yasin Malik) have been advocating for a peaceful and democratic solution to the conflict.
“Let’s focus on finding a peaceful solution rather than reacting defensively,” Muzaffar urged. “It’s time for the world super powers to put the due interests of the Kashmiri people, the premier stakeholders, first and work towards a resolution that respects their rights and dignity.”
