LAHORE, Jul 26 (APP):Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar met with children of police employees affected by Thalassemia and haemophilia, along with their parents, at the Central Police Office here on Friday.
He expressed compassion towards the affected children and inquired about the ongoing measures for their medical treatment and educational activities. The IG Punjab assured the parents of the affected children of full support for their medical treatment and encouraged them also. He said that the Punjab Police has spent over 172.5 million rupees on the treatment of special children over the past year and a half, this includes more than 31.7 million rupees released for the treatment of over 150 children affected by thalassemia. The parents of the affected children expressed their gratitude to the IG Punjab for providing nedical cooperation and a monthly stipend of 15,000 rupees for medical treatment.
The IG Punjab said that the Punjab Police has inked MOUs and agreements with various welfare organizations and hospitals, including Sundas, Fatimid, and Al-Noor Foundations, for blood transfusions These collaborations ensure that police employees’ children receive the best possible medical support. He vowed that children affected by thalassemia will receive the best treatment according to the latest methods and research. He said that police department, with the cooperation of the children’s parents, will successfully tackle this health challenge. He mentioned that 2,700 special children suffering from various ailments have been registered and are receiving treatment and department is ensuring all possible efforts to provide all possible assistance and support to these children with different types of diseases.
The IG Punjab assured that comprehensive resources are being utilized to help children combating with thalassemia lead a normal life, Full support will continue for children affected by thalassemia to continue their education and make them successful citizens.
The ceremony was also attended by Additional IG Welfare and Finance Riaz Nazir Gara, DIG Welfare Ghazi Muhammad Salahuddin, AIG Welfare Shaista Nadeem, and AIG Admin Dr. Rizwan Ahmed Khan, among other officers.
