DHA committed to improving mother-child healthcare

RAWALPINDI, Apr 09 (APP):The District Health Authority (DHA), Rawalpindi is intensely engaged in efforts to improve mother-child healthcare by putting special focus on reducing maternal and newborns mortality rate.
In an exclusive interaction with APP on Wednesday, Dr. Asif Arbab Niazi CEO, District Health Authority said that the health department was organizing awareness seminars, special lectures and interactive sessions to identify root causes and counter strategy to overcome mother-child healthcare challenges.
“Our special focus on Health Day is on maternal and newborn child healthcare, to improved maternal health and reduce mortality risk”, he said while highlighting DHA’s efforts in connection with World Health Day.
The World Health Day is being celebrated globally for which a special campaign titled ‘Healthy beginnings’ on maternal and newborn health is underway.
Dr. Asif said that the health authority, under the vision of CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif has prioritized the women’s long term health.
He underlined that besides taking important steps to improve child healthcare, work was also being done on improving newborn and infant healthcare system.
“Through the coordinated mechanism and collaborative efforts, neonatal mortality, infant mortality and under-five years mortality rates are also reducing which are very important and a healthy sign for our country”, he added.
The CEO informed that all healthcare provider staff has reiterated their commitment to deliver the best of healthcare services to the people, which would ultimately improve the health indicators.
