DC Kohat aims for polio-free district

PESHAWAR, Jan 16 (APP):Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kohat Abdul Akram has issued strict instructions to polio teams to ensure no child under the age of five is missed during the upcoming five-day anti-polio campaign, starting February 3.
Presiding over a meeting on Thursday, DC Abdul Akram emphasized the importance of vaccinating every eligible child to protect them from lifelong disability. The meeting was attended by District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Zahidullah, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Hamid Iqbal, District Health Officer (DHO) Kohat, and representatives from the district administration, Pak Army, education, health and other departments.
During the meeting, comprehensive plans were reviewed, and key decisions were made to ensure the campaign’s success. The participants were informed that 213,673 children would be vaccinated during the campaign, with 1,086 teams deployed across the district.
DC Abdul Akram appealed to the residents of Kohat to cooperate with polio teams by ensuring their children are vaccinated. “Saving children from the crippling effects of polio is a collective responsibility. With joint efforts, we can make Kohat a polio-free district,” he stated.
The administration reiterated its commitment to eradicating the polio virus and urged all stakeholders, including parents and community members, to play their role in achieving this vital public health goal.
