ISLAMABAD, Mar 17 (APP):Citizens Monday demanded the administration of federal capital to take strict action against the professional beggars for extracting money from the pockets of innocent citizens outside Mosques.
According to them, these baggers exploit the sentiments of worshipers as they use tactics to capture the attention during holy month of Ramazan.
Riaz Alam a citizens said, “a large number of beggars of different age groups including men, women and children are seen outside Mosques particularly during Namaz timing.”
They later move to other points like traffic signals and streets to get attention of citizens.
Worshippers said that besides other places a large of professional beggars are present all time at Shah Faisal Mosque.
“They not only create nuisance during Nimaz and Iftar tine but also a potential security threat.”
Aslam Aman said, “Some worshippers have reported being harassed or intimidated by aggressive beggars, which can be distracting and disrupt their spiritual experience.”
The Mosques administration and local authorities should increase security measures and implement effective strategies to deter professional begging in the area.
A worshipper Sakina bibi at Shah Faisal Mosque said “It’s really annoying to see these professional beggars every time we come to pray and they are not even genuinely in need, they’re just taking advantage of the mosque’s charitable atmosphere.”
While sharing her experience she said “They have seen some beggars being really aggressive and harassing worshippers for money and it’s not right, and something needs to be done about it.
A local Resident Adeel Hasaan said “I feel sorry for those who are genuinely in need, but these professional beggars exploit on the name of poverty which is wrong. The authorities should do something to stop this.”
He said “It’s disturbing to see children being used by these professional beggars adding that It’s child exploitation, and it needs to be stopped.
“I have noticed that some of these beggars are not even from this city as they come from other places just to beg here and It’s a big problem, the authorities need to take action, he stated.
