LAHORE, Aug 04 (APP):A ceremony was held at the Chung Training College to honor the martyrs of the police force.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, families of the martyrs and a large number of police officers and officials attended the ceremony. In his address, Lahore CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana paid tribute to the martyrs, stating that today is an occasion to renew our commitment to the brave souls who sacrificed their lives for the protection of our homeland. He mentioned that 333 police officers and officials of the Lahore Police have laid down their lives in the line of duty.
Bilal Siddique Kamyana emphasized that the sacrifices of the martyrs serve as a beacon for us. He assured that the mission of the martyrs, which is the protection and peace of the nation, will continue with determination. He highlighted that the blood of countless martyrs and veterans was part of Pakistan’s foundation and future sacrifices will not be withheld in fulfilling this noble duty.
The CCPO highlighted that the Lahore Police are at the forefront of controlling crime, combating terrorism and protecting citizens’ lives and property. He stated that Lahore Police was taking steps for the welfare of the families of the martyrs with governmental support and effective utilization of available resources.
Under the martyrs’ package, the Lahore Police have provided houses worth Rs. 782.5 million to the families of 50 martyrs since 2017. Additionally, in 2023, scholarships worth over Rs. 12.42 million were distributed among 50 families for their children’s education. Furthermore, Rs. 5.66 million were distributed among 18 families for dowry funds in 2023-24, he added.
Kamyana assured that all possible steps were being taken to provide homes, quality education and medical facilities to the martyrs’ families. He stated that the doors of his office were always open for the families of the martyrs and assured them of continued departmental support.
The CCPO mingled with the children of the martyrs, listened to the concerns of the families and assured them of ongoing welfare efforts. They appreciated the police department, mentioning that the Lahore Police officials regularly attend the weddings of the martyrs’ children and provide the best medical treatment to disabled Ghazis.
