ACE arrests police sub-inspector for taking Rs50,000 bribe
MUZAFFARGARH, Sep 06 (APP):An Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) team arrested a police sub-inspector for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a complainant here on Sunday.
According to the Anti-Corruption Establishment, Circle Officer Amar Yasir arrested police officer Muhammad Muneer red-handed while he was allegedly accepting the bribe from the citizen. The marked currency notes were also recovered from the possession of the accused on the spot.
An anti-corruption official said that it was the second such action during the first week of the current month, as another public official had also been arrested on September 1 on corruption charges.
He said legal proceedings had been initiated against the arrested police officer. The accused would face trial for allegedly misusing his authority and pressuring the complainant to pay a bribe for resolving his case
