7-day anti-polio campaign in ICT wraps up, exceeds target

ISLAMABAD, Nov 03 (APP): The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration on Sunday concluded the anti-polio vaccination campaign, launched from October 28 to November 3, targeted a total of 461,125 children upto the age of five years across Islamabad.

The spokesman of ICT administration said that the Islamabad’s polio vaccination drive, aimed at protecting the city’s children upto the age of five years, successfully wrapped up after a seven-day push that ended on November 3.

With strong efforts from polio teams, the campaign surpassed its goal, covering more children than planned, he added.

In this regard, District Commissioner (DC) Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon, health officials gathered for a review meeting to assess the campaign’s progress and security measures for polio teams working in the field.

Reports from the meeting highlighted the campaign’s success, as polio teams vaccinated 506,772 children, achieving 110% of their target. Security arrangements were also reviewed to ensure the safety of polio workers during the drive.

Another critical focus was on addressing vaccine refusal cases. Each reported case was discussed thoroughly, and officials reported that all concerns were resolved, allowing for broader vaccine acceptance across communities.

DC Islamabad expressed gratitude for the dedication of polio workers, acknowledging their collective effort in advancing Pakistan’s fight against polio.

He praised their role in making the national campaign effective and impactful, emphasizing that their contributions would be remembered as a step toward a polio-free future.
