ISLAMABAD, Feb 22 (APP):National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage, Lok Virsa will screen Pakistani classic Urdu feature film “Shaheed” from 1962, under its Mandwa Film Club here on February 23 for the audience of twin-cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

“Shaheed” is a political motivated film by K K Productions and was a super hit at box office. This film was a fictional story about the search of “Black Gold” or petroleum in the Arabian dessert. The plot of the film is based on the story of a lone foreigner who arrives in Saudi Arabia and treated with generosity and hospitality by the Arab tribals. But the man (named Lawrence) has insidious motives. He has his eyes on the oil deposits deep under the Arab territories, which the Arab chieftain opposes vehemently. But an Arab blacksmith named Haris has been on to Lawrence, and plans a resistance with the exiled former chieftain.
The Mandwa Film Club of Lok Virsa is an initiative taken by the institute to revive the classical cinema in the twin-cities and involve the fun lovers in healthy activities that keep alive the dying traditions among the young generation, the organizers said.
The Mandwa Club screens national and international classical hits on every weekend and invite audience from all walks of life to entertain them as well as engage them in cultural programmes. The film screening is a free for public event.
