LAHORE, Jun 14 (APP):The Punjab government has announced an increase of 10% in salaries of the employees and pensioners of all departments in the financial budget for fiscal year 2021-22.
During his budget speech, Finance Minister Hashim Jawan Bakht said that the government was well aware of difficulties being faced by the government employees, as no raise was given to them in the ongoing financial year due to Covid-19 pandemic.
As the economic situation was improving, he said, the Punjab government had announced raise in the salaries.
More than 721,000 government employees from grade 1 to 19, who were not getting any additional allowance previously, an additional raise of 25% as special allowance, had been announced for them, he added.
He said the PTI-led coalition government was taking measures to bring reforms in the pension system for the retired government employees.
