ISLAMABAD, Apr 27 (APP):Minister for Finance, Miftah Ismail on Friday proposed a 10 percent ad-hoc relief allowance to civil and armed forces employees with effect from 1 July 2018.
“Our government has consistently provided increase in pay and pensions of government employees over the last five years. Despite fiscal constraints a further relief is being provided to government servants and pensioners although the inflation this year currently stands at 3.8 percent,” he said in his budget speech at the National Assembly.
“A 10 percent increase is also being proposed for pensioners across the board,” he said.
He said housing was a serious problem for government employees in major cities and hence house rent ceiling was being increased by 50 percent.
“Similarly, house rent allowance is also being increased by 50 percent,” he added.
The minister said that considering the difficulties of low-paid pensioners, minimum pension was being increased to Rs.10,000 from the present Rs.6,000. Similarly, he said family pension would also get increased from Rs.4,500 to Rs.7,500. “Minimum pension of pensioners above the age of 75 will be Rs.15,000,” he added.
