Rs 1,520.521 mln allocated for uplift of agri sector

ISLAMABAD, June 3 (APP): The government has allocated
Rs 1,520.521 million for the development of agriculture sector under its Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the financial year 2016 17.

According to the budget document released here Friday, the
government has allocated Rs 1,245 million for the completion of 19 on going projects and 275 million for six new schemes in the agriculture sector.

An amount of Rs 200 million has been allocated for the
National Pesticides Resides Residues Monitoring System in
Pakistan a project of Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC), besides allocating Rs 50 million for Indegnization of Hybrid Seed Production for Enhanced Crop Production (Islamabad).

In the PSDP 2016 17, the government has allocated Rs 100
million for strenthening/up gradation of Agricultural and
Zone Research Instituate, Umerkot, Sindh.

To strenthening/up grdation of Agriculture and
Livestock Research System and Arid Zone Research Instutuate, Rs 100 million are earmarked.

Similarly, Rs 273 million are also allocated for the upgradation of Arid Zone Research Instituate (AZRI) to the level of AZRC and establishment of a new demonstration instituate.
