Hakla-D I Khan section of CPEC gets Rs 22 b in PSDP

ISLAMABAD, June 5 (APP): The Federal Government has allocated Rs 22 billion for the construction of Hakla-D I Khan Motorway as part of the western alignment of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the fiscal year 2016-17.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on May 17 performed the ground-breaking of the Motorway, which will start from Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway near Tarnol Inter-change and end at Yarak near D I Khan. This project is an important part of the western route of CPEC that stands among the priorities of the government.
The 285 km-long Hakla-D I Khan Motorway will be completed in two years at a cost of more than Rs 142 billion. From D I Khan, this Motorway will be linked up with Mughalkot via N-50 in Balochistan.
Overall 193,285.266 million have been allocated for 83 development projects of Communications Division in the PSDP.
According to the budgetary document, Rs 5285.265 million are earmarked for five schemes of Ministry of Communications (other than NHA).
Rs 188,000 million have been allocated for National Highway Authority’s (NHA) 78 development projects, including CPEC projects.
Rs 34,000 million have been earmarked for 230 km Lahore-Abdul
Hakeem section of Lahore-Karachi portion and Rs 19,000 million for Multan-Sukkur
section of the Motorway.
Similarly, Rs 16,500 million is allocated for the construction of 118 km Thakot-Havelian section of CPEC and Rs 4,651 million for Burhan-Havelian section.
For the construction of road network for new Islamabad International Airport Main Link, Thalian Link and Periphery Road Rs 3,000 has been earmarked.
