CAIRO, Apr 09 (APP): Embassy of Pakistan Cairo have hosted a reception to commemorate the 85th National Day, where Engineer Mohamed Shimi, Minister of Public Business Sector of Egypt, graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Addressing the reception, Ambassador Aamir Shouket paid glowing tributes to the countless sacrifices of the founding fathers to realize the dream of Pakistan under the exemplary leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
The Ambassador stated that Pakistan, being the fifth most populous country, is strategically placed to serve as connectivity hub, conduit for energy, economic and maritime gateway for South Asia, Central Asia, Middle East and China. With a significant youth bulge, cost effective workforce and tremendous natural resources, Pakistan is an ideal destination for trade and investment, the Ambassador added.
Ambassador Aamir Shouket stated that the current government has taken practical measures for macroeconomic stability, ease of doing business and reduction in inflation. He highlighted the role of Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) towards investment facilitation for foreign investors in key sectors. The Ambassador further added that liberalised visa regime is attracting more tourists to visit Pakistan than before.
Appreciating the deep-rooted fraternal ties between Pakistan and Egypt, Ambassador Aamir Shouket noted with satisfaction the recent high level exchanges between the leadership of the two brotherly countries to further strengthen bilateral political, economic, defence, cultural, health, and educational cooperation.
Chief Guest for the occasion, H.E. Engineer Mohamed Shimi congratulated the government and people of Pakistan on celebrating 85th National Day. He reiterated commitment of the leadership of Egypt to enhance the bilateral cooperation.
During the event, students of Pakistan International School Cairo presented a cultural performance showcasing art and culture of all the federating units of Pakistan. A cake cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the occasion.
A corner, projecting arts, crafts and cultural heritage and export potential of Pakistan, attracted the attention of the diginitaries and guests.
Earlier, the Chamberlain of the Egyptian Presidency also delivered a congratulatory message from H.E. Mr. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
A large number of Egyptian government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, business community, academia, journalists and Pakistani community in Egypt attended the reception.
