ISLAMABAD, Mar 17 (APP): Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb on Monday informed the National Assembly that the hiring of the international consulting firm McKinsey for the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) tax digitalization project was conducted through a transparent and independent process.

Responding to a calling attention notice regarding the engagement of McKinsey, the minister said, “Seven renowned firms, including prominent international players, applied for the consultancy role. After a thorough and impartial evaluation, McKinsey was selected to lead the FBR’s transformation.”

He said that the reforms within the FBR should be viewed as part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at transforming the institution through improvements in people, processes, and technology.

“The government is committed to bringing competent and skilled professionals into the FBR to streamline operations, simplify procedures, and promote greater transparency,” Aurangzeb said. “The ultimate goal is to minimize corruption and eliminate any elements of harassment within the system.”

The finance minister reiterated that the ongoing reforms are designed to make the tax authority more efficient, transparent, and accountable, in line with international best practices.

“Our aim is to simplify procedures, streamline processes, and ensure transparency across the board,” he said. “Ultimately, we are focused on reducing corruption.”
