MIRPUR (AJK), Jan 17 (APP):Terming India’s imperialistic presence in Kashmir as a threat to the region’s peace and stability AJK President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry said that Indian forces have been committing war crimes against Kashmiri people on IIOJK territory.
“Under the given circumstances, there is a dire need that all political parties of Azad Kashmir should join their forces to highlight the plight of the Kashmiri people and expose India’s ugly face to the world”, the president remarked.
The AJK President expressed these views while talking to AJK Legislative Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar who called on him in the State metropolis and discussed issues of mutual concern including prevailing political and human rights situation in the Indian occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Voicing their serious concern over the continual bloodshed and violence in the Indian held territory, they urged the international community to play its much needed role to resolve the lingering dispute peacefully in accordance with the UNSC resolutions.
Condemning India’s relentless repression to stifle political dissent in the region, the duo on the occasion agreed to intensify efforts to highlight the Kashmir issue both at national and international levels.
Seeking global community’s attention towards the stepped up human rights violations in the restive region, they said that it was high time that the world community should play its much needed role to settle this lingering dispute that has been the main cause and consequence of unrest and bloodshed in the region.
Meanwhile, AJK Chief Secretary Khushal Khan also called on President Sultan Chaudhry and briefed him on administrative affairs and development projects going on in different areas of the State.
The president directed the chief secretary to ensure early completion of ongoing development projects so that the people of the state can get better facilities.
