ISLAMABAD, Nov 28 (APP): The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather alert for rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall in various regions of Pakistan starting Thursday (Nov 28), as a westerly wave is expected to affect the western parts of the country.

According to the NDMA’s National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC), this weather system will bring a mix of rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snowfall, affecting both plains and mountainous areas.

The alert urges local authorities, emergency responders, and the public to stay vigilant and prepare for potential disruptions.

The NDMA has urged residents in northern and hilly areas to be cautious, particularly when traveling on slippery roads or through foggy conditions. Farmers are advised to take preventive steps to protect their crops and livestock from adverse weather effects.

In smog-affected regions, the public is encouraged to limit outdoor exposure, wear protective masks, and ensure proper indoor ventilation to reduce health risks. Travelers are advised to stay updated and plan their trips accordingly to avoid delays and hazards.

Rain, wind, and thunderstorms are expected in the western and northern parts of the country, with snowfall likely in mountainous areas.

The Pothohar region and nearby areas are also forecasted to experience rain and thunderstorms.

Mountainous regions, especially in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Malakand and Hazara divisions), are expected to experience snowfall, leading to slippery roads and potential travel delays.

While Punjab’s plains are likely to stay mostly dry, smog and fog will continue, especially in the early mornings and nights, reducing visibility.
