KARACHI, Jul 22 (APP):Sindh Minister for Industry and Commerce, Jam Ikramullah Dharejo, stressing on promotion of electric vehicles for reducing environmental pollution and saving fuel, on Monday said that manufacturing of electric vehicles in the country will not only save foreign exchange but also create employment opportunities at the local level.
The minister, while chairing a meeting with a delegation of Yousuf Dewan Group, underscored the significance of electric vehicles in curtailing environmental pollution and said that Pakistan is currently facing the menace of pollution and use of Electric vehicles will help in dealing with issue of environmental pollution.
He also emphasized the need of small size fire trucks as in any emergency situation these trucks could easily go through narrow streets and reach in congested areas to extinguish fire. For promotion of the electric vehicle, Dharejo said, more charging stations need to be installed along with disseminating mass awareness to encourage the use of E-vehicles by consumers.
The minster assured that the government will continue playing its role to promote the automobile industry and relevant quarters will be taken on board for promoting use of E-vehicles in government departments.
The meeting was attended by provincial secretary Industry and Commerce Muhammad Yasin Shar, MD SITE Ghazanfar Ali Qadri and representatives of Dewan Group Hasan Zafar, Saad Murad Khan, Captain (retd) Kashif Riaz and Saleha Hassan.
