LAHORE, Jul 10 (APP):Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar visited Bahawalpur and Sahiwal regions and inspected Muharram security arrangements.
He reviewed the security arrangements for processions and Majalis held in Bahawalpur. He visited the A category procession route of glass street of police station Kotwali Bahawalpur.
The RPO and DPO Bahawalpur briefed the IG Punjab about security arrangements.
The IG Punjab met with the officials deputed on security duty and directed them to perform their duties in the spirit of Jihad. He also visited the routes of various processions of Bahawalpur, Mukhiyan Wali Street, Central Imam Bargah, Jamia Masjid Ahl Shia Women’s Hospital Road. He met the organizers of the processions and the license holders.
The IG Punjab said that with the cooperation of district government, peace committees, organizers of processions and government institutions, foolproof security arrangements are being made for Muharram. He said that on the direction of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, foolproof security arrangements are being reviewed across Punjab.
Additional IG South Punjab Kamran Khan, RPO Bahawalpur Rai Babar Saeed, DPO Bahawalpur Asad Sarfraz Khan and other officers were also present on the spot.
Later, the IG Punjab also visited Sahiwal and inspected security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram. He reviewed the security arrangements for A-category processions and Majalis in Sahiwal.
Dr. Usman Anwar directed that all measures should be effectively utilized to maintain a peaceful environment during Muharram, adding that Police teams should remain on high alert to thwart any malicious plots and potential threats.
He visited important Imam Bargahs, Majalis places, and central procession routes in Sahiwal, issuing directives to cooperate with local authorities to ensure citizens safety.
District Police Officer Sahiwal Faisal Shehzad briefed on security arrangements for the Muharram-ul-Haram.
