PESHAWAR, Jul 09 (APP): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Tuesday held meetings with delegations of Sarhad Business Alliance and Tobacco growers.
The delegation was led by President of the Organization, Malik Meher Elahi, and included representatives Adnan Jalil, Syed Zahid Shah, Bakht Mir Durani, Faisal Kakakhel, Muhammad Aureng Zaib, and other dignitaries from the business community.
During the meeting at Governor House, the delegation briefed the Governor on the challenges faced by the business community at the provincial and commercial levels. They highlighted concerns regarding recent increases in sales tax and other taxes affecting the business class.
The delegation discussed various proposals with the Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, ranging from the current security situation, restrictions on wheat transportation from other province, substandard medical stores, industrial road conditions, and enhancements in business facilities and development within the province.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi emphasized the ongoing efforts to promote investment and business growth in the province for economic advancement.
“There is a need to foster trade relations between Central Asian states and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” remarked Faisal Karim Kundi, discussing the enhancement of trade between Peshawar and Tajikistan during his recent visit to the country.
“Discussions during the Tajikistan visit focused on mutual cooperation in industrial sectors, particularly food, auto-mobile, and energy industries,” he added.
Governor Faisal Kundi also highlighted the potential benefits of establishing sister cities between Khatlon and Peshawar, envisioning substantial advantages in agriculture, poultry, educational and energy sectors.
“To ensure betterment in education, energy, and other sectors, a task force is being formed,” he disclosed. He said that the province has been affected due to terrorism.
He said that the business community played a pivotal role in the economic prosperity of the province. Governor Kundi expressed commitment to advancing progress across all sectors through collective social efforts.
Furthermore, Governor Faisal Kundi said : “With seven open gates between Afghanistan and Pakistan, there is potential to initiate a journey of economic growth towards Central Asia.” “As Pakistani and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa citizens, it is imperative to play a societal role in ensuring peace and security,” he added.
The business community was urged to submit written proposals outlining their issues to relevant forums for effective resolution.
Governor Faisal Kundi appealed for scholarships to be granted to students based on educational excellence and sponsorship for talented athletes from the business community to propel them forward.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue collaborative efforts for the betterment of the province across all sectors.
Meanwhile, the Governor Faisal Karim Kundi also assured Tobacco delegation of Swabi to resolve their problems on priority basis after discussing with Tobacco Board.
He said “He will arrange their meeting with Tobacco Board.”
He assured to hold a meeting of tobacco delegation with the Ambassador of Tajikistan.
The Governor said that he will support them at all forums as PPP always supported farmers.
The delegation led by Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha Provincial President PPP, Biland Khan Tarakai, Liaqat Khan, Arif Khan, Javed Khan, Asadullah Khan and Engineer Daud Jan and others.
They presented their demands including imposition of tax.
Meanwhile, in another meeting with the delegation of Swabi Action Committee, led by Salim Advocate, Goher Inqilabi, Biland Khan Tarakai and other, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said that he has recently visited Tarbela Dam Swabi and it was included in his first priority to resolve their electricity problem as well as industrial.
The Governor said that he was ready to plead the case of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Center and has invited all the parties in this regard.
