KARACHI, Sep 19 (APP): The Provincial Threat Assessment Committee (PTAC) met under the chairmanship of Sindh Caretaker Minister for Home and Prisons Brig. (Retd.) Haris Nawaz here at the Home Department.
The government of Sindh, in conformity with the instructions of ECP for effective overseeing of the forthcoming general elections and in a peaceful manner to ensure grand operation against the street criminals, drug dealers, illegal immigrants, dacoits, and smugglers in the province, according to a communique here on Tuesday.
The Provincial Home Secretary, Iqbal Memon, Addl. IGP Training, Addl. IGP Karachi, Addl. IGP CTD, Addl. IGP Special Branch, AIGP Operations CPO, Deputy Commandant SSU, SSP Security-I, SSP Security-II and senior officers of other Law Enforcement and Intelligence Agencies, attended the meeting.
The meeting decided to withdraw all deployed police forces for a conclusive operation against the lawbreakers.
The committee assessed properly the level of security threats being faced by prominent persons and places and decided how stringent security cover is required from law enforcement agencies to counter them.
The chair stressed cutting down the “excessive deployment” regarding security protocol.
The PTAC issued directives to the Divisional Threat Assessment Committees to revisit/ recommend the need for security and the extent of security to be provided to prominent people under threat.
Divisional Threat Assessment Committees are headed by respective Divisional Commissioners as the body’s chairman.
This committee will reassemble on Monday 25th September to streamline the matter justifiably and issue instructions accordingly.
