ISLAMABAD, Jan 27 (APP): Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik Tuesday urged the media not to glorify the terrorists. “I appeal to the media not to glorify the terrorists. Let’s not make them heros. Let’s fight terrorism together,” said the Advisor while talking to the reporters here at the Parliament House.

Malik said the terrorists were seeking sympathies of media and public but the media should discourage them and support the government efforts to root out the menace of fundamentalism from the society.

The nation should demonstrate unity on issue of Swat as it showed over national security after Mumbai attacks.

“Wherever the information for presence of terrorists is received; we would take action against them, so the people should cooperate,” the advisor said.

He said the forces were succeeding in fight against terrorism in Federally Administered Areas (FATA) and Swat and the people would see a change within few weeks.

“We are on ground and fighting out the militants. We have taken control of Mingora and you would see a clear change in three to four weeks’ time,” he said.

He said the law and order situation was improving across NWFP and FATA.

“I do not make tall claims and the people are the best judge. When we took over, there were rampant suicide bombings across country. Situation is much improved now,” he remarked.

To a question about the increase in activities of defunct Lashkar-e-Jhangvi in Punjab, Malik said the Punjab government was alive to the situation and the law and order was in control.

Answering to another question regarding the new lists of high value targets released by Taliban, Rehman Malik said the list was no more an issue.

“The terrorists were also targeting the politicians in recent past and the new list is not an issue. We would have to fight the terrorists together,” he concluded.

Malik said that investigations of Mumbai attacks on our side were underway; however, he could not disclose the confidential details of the matter.
