PPP starts various energy projects: Sumsam
ISLAMABAD, July 31 (APP): Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Syed Sumsam Bukhari on Tuesday said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) led government had started various projects, including Bhasha Dam, to overcome energy crisis in the country.Talking to a private television channel, Sumsam said that after the completion of the projects the energy crisis would be ended, however, it would take time.He said that the regimes after the second tenure of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s government were responsible for the crisis, which did not launch any projects for power production. However, the present government has added 3200 MW electricity to the national grid, he added.Replying to a question, he said that the energy crisis was a national issue and all political parties should avoid to promote provincialism. He said that the subsidized units should be given to WAPDA employees rather than free units.“We should make planning for CNG usage. The country may face more energy shortage in future, if we don’t transfer vehicles back to the petrol and LPG,” he added.
